Brunei becomes first export market for All-New Proton X50

Following a successful 2025, Proton International Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (PICSB) continues to reinforce its export-led growth strategy with the introduction of the All-New Proton X50 in Brunei, marking the latest milestone in the brand’s expanding international footprint.

The unveiling of the upgraded compact SUV underscores PROTON’s commitment to delivering globally competitive products tailored for overseas markets, while strengthening its position in key right-hand-drive export destinations. Brunei remains one of PROTON’s most established export markets, with the X50 consistently among the brand’s strongest performers.

Held at Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday, the launch was graced by His Excellency Dato' Mohd Aini Antan, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam, and attended by Wan Wei, Vice President of PICSB, Tan Kah Boon, Chairman of Pad Motors Sdn. Bhd, and Hambali bin Pehin Salleh, Managing Partner of PAD Motors.

Last year, PICSB recorded a total export volume of 6,000 units, demonstrating sustained demand across international markets. The Proton X50 emerged as a key contributor, accounting for 29% of sales, reflecting its strong appeal beyond Malaysia.

In Brunei, the Proton X50 contributed 38% of total sales, reinforcing its status as one of the top SUV choices in the market.

Looking ahead, Brunei is set to remain an important contributor to PICSB’s export growth, with a target of 1,000 units for the year. This momentum will be supported by the introduction of refreshed, feature-enhanced models such as the Proton X50, as well as the eventual rollout of the all-new Proton Saga.
